Just did some reflections on Eph 5.. as i was reading up on some materials for sharing in cell...
thought i wanted to log this in as it felt super meaningful. i especially like Ephesians as i felt that whatever Paul was sharing in the letter to the church was very apt for my cell.. despite the fact that many of them are brought up in christian environments, they are all very young in the Word and are not used to bible study.

Ephesians seem to be a gd read for them, as Paul's advice to them are also, useful reminders to us and how we can lead the life tt God has called us to lead. and interestingly, the part that i glossed over and thought was least impt actually grabbed my attention and made me ponder deeper.. u're right if you had guessed it was the part on marriage and on how husbands and wives ought to behave. anyway, just to share a bit on it...

in eph 5: 21-33, the author who wrote the bible study material used the part on husbands and wives as a reflection of Christ's love for us. I have always disliked the verses in the bible that mention on the submission of wives to the husbands, as i do not see the logic of why it has to be so, except that it is written so and we shld obey. but when he wrote is as such, i see no other reason as to why i should not submit.. Here goes..

"Submission is human recognition of divine ordering of society. It is the Lord who have the authority, and it is out of reverence to Christ that we submit to one another."

This floored me. and it made a whole lot of sense.

it gets better... the part on Christ's headship..and the relationship between husband and wife.
"He sacrificed himself to serve her, in order that she might become everything he longs for her to be. Just as a husband should never use his headship to crush or stifle his wife, or frustrate her from being herself. His love for her will lead him to an exactly opposite path. He will give himself for her, in order that she may develop her full potential under God and so become more completely herself."

dun u think tt's just beautiful? i read it a few times just to get it in. just how many times do we long for a companion, just so that we can meet our own needs? to want to be loved, be missed, be spoilt. but what's written here is the exact opposite.. and the intent is so strong..so blunt and so obvious. Just as Christ had sacrificed all of Himself for the simple reason of allowing us to be who we can be, the husband should follow the example of Christ and do his utmost, so that she (the wife) can be the person that God wants her to be. how self-sacrificial is tt?
